How to syndicate with Social Rights |
The term syndication comes from traditionnal publishing, where an author would send his article for publication to many newspapers or magazines at the same time.
On the web, sites can also automatically exchange articles, but for simplicity, they usually exchange titles with hyperlinks to the original article.
An example of this on Social Rights Bulgaria, is that we always syndicate our bulgarian edition with the english one, and vice versa. You can see this on the right side of every page, just under the navigation menu. Occasionnaly, you may also see links to major events, sites of partners, etc.
To syndicate, or to import/export a syndication "feed", most websites use the RSS format, which means "Really Simple Syndication". You must also use a content management system, such as Spip to either integrate the content of the syndication into your website, or to create a special RSS file automatically if you want others to syndicate with your site. This special RSS file is often reffered to as "backend" file.
Rights Bulgaria offers many types of different levels of syndication from which you can chose: general overview, theme or a specific section such as news or articles:
Syndicate the general overview of a language (2 national news, 2 international news and 2 articles) :
Syndicate a specific theme (5 most recent articles)
Syndicate a specific section:

Please not that, unlike most Spip sites, if you simply syndicate our backend.php3 file without any specific information, you will only receive a message encouraging you to read the help, written inside the "xml" code of the syndication feed.
